Saving big cats means saving our planet – and saving ourselves. The world’s last wild places are vanishing at an alarming rate. As wide-ranging predators, big cats play a crucial role in keeping ecosystems in balance. Saving them protects huge tracts of land and every species that shares their realm. Producing stories, photographs and films about big cats has impact: Our work has helped create national parks, informed the public, influenced lawmakers and stopped wildlife trafficking.
Our explorers have created a wide range of big cat media projects. From photography books to documentaries, television shows to online articles, and public lectures, our team has a long history of making media that has an impact. Beyond sharing important stories with a global audience, these media projects have gone on to directly help big cats in need.
After joining the Pride, I was able to go out into the field with Big Cat Voices and witness how my support fuels their work. I watched the team set up motion-sensor camera traps to capture images of bobcats in their natural environment. The team later showed me powerful images that will be included in an upcoming story. It was an amazing experience and made me even more excited to be a part of the Pride.
